News Both Joyous and Sad

And, please pause to remember classmate Gary Blocker.
Gary Lee Blocker, 70, of La Porte City, died Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at the Covenant Medical Center of heart failure. He was born March 1, 1937 in Benton County the son of Herman and Sylvie Raymond Blocker. He married Dorothy Wester on November 21, 1960 in La Porte City.
Gary was a farmer. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy of La Porte City; two sons, Steven Blocker of La Porte City, Scott Blocker of Ames; one daughter, Sherry (Todd) Mesenbrink of Dike; one grandson, Clint Mesenbrink of Dike; one brother, Alan (Linda) Blocker of La Porte City; one sister, Bettye (Jim) Wester of Waterloo and one sister-in-law Hisako Blocker of Vallejo, California.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Delbert and Bill Blocker.
Services were held on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Sacred Heart Church with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City.
Graveside Military Rites were conducted by the La Porte City American Legion San Diego Post #207 and the VFW Post #3983.
